My presentation on VueJS at Adobe CF Summit 2018 in Las Vegas, Nv

Books and Training, Javascript, jQuery, VueJS

I was lucky enough to present at Adobe's CF Summit 2018, which was held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, October 1st-3rd. I presented my session "The easy way to make your CF App Pretty and Cool with VueJS and CF APIs" on Wednesday after lunch. To make sure I was kept busy, when Adobe reached out for speakers to be volunteers for the preconference, I signed to be a TA, where I ended up helping Nolan Erch and Carl Von Statten in their preconference workshop. After the conference, I then spent Thursday and Friday leading the ColdBox Zero to Hero workshop with 16 great Coldfusion developers looking to modernize their ColdFusion development.

Thank you for all of you who attended my session. I believe my session went very well, with only standing room left, in a rather large room, the crowd seemed engaged interacting with questions, answers, and voting on the outcomes of my jQuery vs VueJS demo comparison. I believe there must have been approximately 150 people in the session, with 43 responses to the survey, I got a lot of great feedback, mainly positive which means I did my job well. Its an honor to share what I learn with you, and that’s a big part of why I am Software Consultant, and why I love training and presenting at conferences.

I know you are probably wondering why it took so long to post my demos and slides. A big part of my talk with integrating VueJS with legacy code, and the examples I showed, were deep in the middle of an 8+ year old legacy site. When I went to share my demo code, I realized that it wasn't so easy to make these demos all standalone and self contained. There was a lot of moving parts, and proprietary information, and no one wants to import databases for a demo, so I had to convert the code a little, use some JSON files for the data etc. I hope it was worth the wait.

You can get my slides and demos at my github account:
You can spin up a simple commandbox server by typing `server start` in the root of the repo, and everything is ready for you to test.

Hope you enjoy the presentation, please reach out if you have questions or feedback.

More Conference News

After a successful Adobe CF Summit, some of the Ortus Team are making plans to attend CF Camp ( ) in Germany in November. I will not be attending, but I am already preparing for Ortus Solution's very own conference Into the Box in Houston, Texas May 1-3 2019.

We have already announced 6 preconference workshops, where I will be leading ContentBox Zero to Hero with my beautiful Assistant Andrew Davis. This workshop is a ContentBox spin on our ColdBox Zero to Hero training I lead in Vegas after CF Summit, both are great workshops, but we have plenty more options, for you to soak up lots of modern ColdFusion the day prior to Into The Box's 2 day 2 track conference. Check out the workshops here:

We are already accepting call for speakers if you would like to throw your name in the hat to present… you can find the link here.

Let us know what you want to see there, tweet at me, and we'll use that information to help our session selection process.
