Git for Dummies - Installing on Linux

Source Control

Installing Git on Linux is almost a worthless blog post, but still, if you find my blog series on Git for Dummies, you might need to know.
You can choose to compile from source, but for this simplistic post, we'll just show you how to install via the basic package management.

If you are on a Fedora system, you can use yum

$ yum install git-core

If you are on a Debian system, Ubuntu, you can try

$ apt-get install git

Once you install git, you can confirm the installation and version number, by typing

$ git version

That was easy, lets get make our first Repo... in my next blog entry.
